We have all received counsel from someone close that goes something like, “Everything happens for a reason.” This posits that things happen to us – or will happen to us – based on a cosmic force akin to Newton’s Third Law of Motion. That’s bullshit. I feel the better course can be expressed, “This happened … what caused it, and what can I learn from it?”

The great painter, philosopher, and human Quaalude,  Bob Ross, said that – in his world – there are no mistakes, only happy accidents. Perfection is unattainable, but aim for it (and iterate), you may hit great. The imperfections of yesterday inform today’s actions.
